Knit 1 Chicago
I stopped by Knit 1 on Monday to pick up some yarn for a scarf I want to make for when it starts getting cold out (even though I’ll probably finish this thing sometime in mid-March). This was the first time that I had been there and it’s a really cute store stocked that’s full of yarns in every color known to man.
The owner, Karen Clements, is really friendly and was telling me that she started the shop about 3 years ago because her husband put her to up to it. “I loved to knit but that wasn’t really like my main reason, but he just dared me to do it and I did.” (She was between jobs as a photographer).
She thinks that the whole DIY movement has really taken off in Chicago: “It just keeps growing and that whole movement has gotten so huge…it does a lot for your self confidence to create something and not have to rely on something mass produced.”
Check her out her store at 3823 N. Lincoln Ave.
