Welcome!
Ok, so I wanted to start (and actually keep up with) a blog about something very near and dear to me, crafting and DIY culture. It’s something that I’ve been a part of for years and because of school, work, etc, I’m not as involved with it as I used to be. For almost a year now, I’ve been kicking around the idea of starting a blog about the DIY scene in Chicago.
I’ve wanted to do this for two reasons:
1. Anyone who decides to throw caution to the wind and quit their job to make a living selling their hand-made goods is my hero. 2. I haven’t seen any publications that cover the Chicago scene in depth and I think that there should be.
Now there are plenty of DIY blogs floating around out there in cyber space, some of them are awesome and encompass so many different things like events, craft projects, and profiles of innovative crafters. But one thing that I have yet to find is a blog that covers this scene from a local perspective, profiles local DIY entrepreneurs and organizations and pushes the envelope of what DIY culture can encompass. Hopefully this blog will accomplish this and I hope you all enjoy.
